Global Empowerment Network, Inc. (GEN) is a growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit working in education, legal support, economic empowerment, women’s empowerment, and community support. As GEN grows, we want to strengthen our Board of Directors and establish a clear governance structure that supports accountability, effective decision-making, and long-term organizational development. We currently have a small board and need guidance on clarifying the roles and responsibilities of board members, officers, the Board Chair, Founder, and Executive Director. We also need practical recommendations for board participation, meetings, decision-making, oversight, accountability, and terms of service. We would especially value guidance on creating a healthy and effective working relationship between organizational leadership and the Board.GEN can provide our existing organizational and governance materials for review. Learn more at www.globalempowermentnetwork.org.
By the end of the project, we would like to have:1. An assessment of GEN’s current board structure with prioritized recommendations for improvement.2. A clear governance framework defining the roles and responsibilities of board members, officers, the Board Chair, Founder, and Executive Director.3. Recommended expectations for board participation, meetings, decision-making, oversight, accountability, and terms of service.Success would mean GEN has a clear, practical governance structure that strengthens accountability, clarifies leadership roles, and supports an effective relationship between the Board and organizational leadership.
