Recruitment Strategy for Additional Board Directors
Our goal is to strengthen how we attract candidates and reaching highly motivated people who may not come from traditional backgrounds.
The volunteer will work with our team to:
- Understand the role and our current recruitment approach.
- Identify the most important skills and qualifications needed for success in the role.
- Recommend 3–5 candidate sources or outreach channels that align with those skills.
- Develop four clear, actionable outreach tactics to engage those candidates.
- Outline simple ways to track responses and refine our approach over time.
Final deliverable: A practical recruitment strategy for recruiting Board Members, along with some actual outreach on behalf of the nonprofit, including target candidate profiles, and a set of outreach tactics our team can put into action immediately.
This project will allow the volunteer to contribute meaningfully to the transformation of a small, nimble and fiscally responsible nonprofit with a shoestring budget and low operational reserves into a trusted and celebrated regional nonprofit that implements it's theory of change to generate systems change through operational excellence with direct services. With new Board Members who have positive influence, strong community networks, have affinity to our cause, and possibly personal wealth to support organizational goals, we will be better positioned to change the lives of young adults in the communities served.
We look forward to collaborating with you.
- Assign a dedicated point of contact for the volunteer.
- Share background on our organization, programs, the community that we serve, and hiring needs. If available, we will also share demographic information on our current staff and board members.
- Provide access to any current recruitment materials or outreach efforts.
- Be available for regular check-ins and timely feedback.
- Ensure team members involved in hiring are available for input, and that decision-makers are aligned and supportive of the project's goals.
We’re committed to being responsive and engaged, so you can focus on delivering a clear, actionable plan we’re ready to put into practice.
